Play Your Own Financial Game

Someone else's financial decision may make perfect sense for their life while being completely wrong for yours.

People often compare their financial decisions with the decisions of people around them.

Someone buys a new car, and suddenly we question whether we should buy one too. Someone invests aggressively, and we wonder whether we are being too conservative. Someone travels constantly, and we question our own lifestyle.

But people are playing different games. They have different incomes, responsibilities, goals, timelines, risk tolerances, and definitions of success.

A decision can be reasonable for one person and unreasonable for another without either person being wrong.

The important question is not, 'What are other people doing?' It is, 'What game am I playing, and does this decision support it?'

Knowing your own game makes it much easier to ignore decisions that look attractive but do not belong to your strategy.
